We are a bunch of medical students from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. The faculty consists of undergraduates from all five years (Phase I, II, IIIA and IIIB) of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) degree program.
Our aims are to foster friendship and teamwork among medical students in our faculty, nurture skills and experiences that are not only confined to our textbooks and the hospital setting as well as to reach out to the community through various activities.
Through the various projects that the Medical Society (MedSoc) organizes, we hope to produce future doctors who are well-rounded individuals with the capability to empathize and care for patients using the knowledge gained throughout their years as a medical student.
After all, life does not revolve around ourselves and studies only.
It is not about working our way to the top without even taking a break in life to consider the needs of others as well as what life has to offer other than good grades. Moreover, it is an obligation to give back as much as we can with what we have, what we own and understand better the needs of the society through the various experiences that we will gain.
Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.
– Albert Einstein
And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”
– Abraham Lincoln
